Thing #17 Sandbox Wiki

Well, this was a tough one for me. I needed a little help from my co-workers (thank you!) to
get it done. I found the instructions hard to follow. That said, not sure I would have much use
for the sandbox. I'm probably not fully understanding it's capabilities. It looks like fun if a person has lots of discretionary time on their hands otherwise I don't understand what purpose
it serves.

Learn About WIKIS

Found wikis very interesting. So much information, so little time! I can see how library wikis would be beneficial not only to the public but as in our library system as a way to address questions and issues brought up by patrons or coworkers. A way to share information. Because
there is so much information available I can see where the other tools we've learned about like
the rss and Feeds are critical in managing all this info. There isn't enough time in the day to
browse it all, we need to tools that help us cut to the chase.

The Future of Libraries

First things first, I loved the video "The Machine is Us..."! Very exciting and interesting. Makes
me wish I understood more about all this technology! After reading the "perspectives" I feel the
same way. Information technology is moving at a break neck pace. I really don't want to be left
behind...

Technorati

I tried to work with Technorati and wasn't having much luck. I know I'm getting down to the wire with this assignment so I will have to move on and hope to get back to this part when I can.

Tagging and Discover Delicious

I like the capabilities of this tool. It would be awesome as a research assistance or as a way to create bookmarks that can be accessed from anywhere. Again, I need more time in order to
play and experiment with this but given time, I can see great potential!
